God is powerfully moving in Pioneer. The weekend of September 26, 2026, was a reminder of a profound reality: God moves through community. The Pioneer Evergreens joined many other Pathfinder clubs from around the Lake Union at the Berrien County Youth Fair Grounds. This marked the sixty-eighth year since the first Lake Union Camporee. These years stand as a testimony to the enduring impact of the Pathfinder community on children and leaders. On Saturday night, twelve Pioneer Evergreens choose to stand alongside other Pathfinders from around the union, each making the decision to give their lives to Jesus. God is on the move!
Also, that weekend, the Nursery and Beginner Sabbath Schools joined together for their first joint potluck in years. After second service, families jointly contributed to a mouthwatering, homecooked potluck meal. In such a large church, it can be easy to feel invisible, but in this potluck, I saw beautiful connections made as people were seen, relationships were formed, and the body of Christ deepened its bonds. A shared meal may seem insignificant, but in a congregation the size of Pioneer, it can become an impactful space where we minister to one another physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Through these spaces, God continues to move. And the evidence of God moving through community doesn’t stop here.
Our Earliteen volunteers provided space for a baptismal appeal during Sabbath School, resulting in more than ten children making decisions to enter a transformative journey with Jesus. Our Children’s Sabbath School leaders are so integral to nurturing the sense of community at Pioneer. Through them God continues to move.
As a result of community at Pioneer, 18 children are about to begin studying for baptism with more preparing to start. As part of our Pioneer family, I want to invite you to continue praying for these young people and for the volunteers investing in their lives. More than 500 children are ministered to through Pioneer Children’s Ministries. I invite to you to prayerfully consider joining our team in whatever way you can, to minister to these precious ones who Jesus died to save. If you are interested in volunteering, I and my leaders would love to meet you. Visit us at Pioneer’s downstairs Welcome Center during Sabbath School on any Sabbath and ask for a pastor or superintendent.
Our God is a God of community. As His body, we are designed to reflects this. When we share a meal, help a Sabbath School class, support our Pathfinder Club, or simply make space to intentionally connect with one another throughout the week, we are doing more than building friendships. We are creating opportunities for God to work. When God’s people connect with each other and others, God can use these seemingly ordinary moments to build relationships, strengthen His church, and lead people to Jesus.
God is on the move at Pioneer. And He invites all of us to be part of what He is doing.
