Offering

The amalgamation of two clashing world views of origins has given birth to a third which appeals to many modern minds, but must forget three biblical revelations to survive.

More In This Series

08/28/2010
Two divine gifts sustained our Lord for 40 days on His way to that moment in sacred history that became the center of all time and eternity. What would happen if you and I dedicated 40 days centered on these two sustaining gifts?
09/04/2010
Seven chapters of salvation history, seven divine secrets until God himself “spilled the secret” through His chosen confidants. Should the world have expected any less at the end? Consider the revelation and full implications of a miner prophet’s major message.
09/11/2010
Seven stages in the life-cycle of a prophet, some of them so human as to question the his/her divine calling, some of them so disturbing that only a fool would desire such a calling.
10/02/2010
It happened long ago when a wedding party and a funeral train passed each other at a crossing that would never be forgotten. Could it be that two modern anniversaries have coincided with a result that will always be remembered?
10/30/2010
“By their fruits you will know them,” He warned. Which makes all the more significant the three great passions of this particular prophetic gift, and the global fruits it has borne.
11/06/2010
Our third millennial skepticism to any claim that God called someone to the role of a modern prophet echoes Jesus’ own warning against false prophets. And yet, the Bible predicts a prophetic ministry in the end time. So, how’s a person to tell the true from the false?
11/13/2010
Plagiarist and usurper of Bible authority, or true messenger of God?
11/20/2010
When someone is called to a prophetic office, we can sometimes learn as much from what they personally experience as from what they overtly teach. Which is why some very profound lessons on how to survive, even thrive, at times of intense suffering are revealed in discovering how she related to hers.

Pioneer Operating Budget

My then six-year-old son came up to me and said, “Dad, I need a lot of money, and I need to make it fast!” I smiled and inquired, “Why do you need a lot of money quickly?” I didn’t know what my son was thinking of doing with all this fast cash and why he needed the funds so urgently. I thought maybe he wanted to buy a new toy or bike for himself. He said, “Well, Mom’s birthday is coming up and I want to buy a nice gift for her!” That sure cheered my heart, and so I gave him the funds! My son was asking for money, not for selfish reasons but out of love for his mom.

When I think about church offerings, every gift we give should be measured by the unfathomable Gift of heaven. The greatest offering we received from God is Jesus, and there is no way we can measure His love and sacrifice for us. Anything we give would appear as nothing in comparison. “How vain the endeavor to measure with mathematical rules, time, money, and love against a love and sacrifice that is measureless and incomputable!” (Testimonies for the Church, Vol.4, p.119). Let’s return our tithes and offerings in response to the abundance of God’s love for us.
