ASM Potluck and Corn Roast August 11

One of the most delightful programs of the year for ASM (Adventist Seniors of Michiana) is the annual Corn Roast!  Yum! Bring your favorite potluck dish to the AU Grove Shelter at 1:00 PM Sunday, August 11, along with your friends and enjoy the "good ole
times" as we find out who will lead out in programming for the new ASM year! There will also be a mini-presentation or two that will bring focus to our mission project and the accomplishments of the past. Dues for the new year will be accepted at this time.  This is an excellent opportunity for new members (Adventists 55 years and older) to join our group. For more information, contact Cleon White 269-471-5553.

Book Signing Event

Runners. Pastors. “In Grandpa’s Shoes: An Invitation to Intergenerational Connection” shares how the encouragement of one man, Eric Webster, influenced the life of his granddaughter, Raewyn Orlich. Weaving their stories together, each chapter looks honestly at topics like health, human suffering, race, gender, and faith. Join us for food and storytelling on Monday, August 12, from 6-8 PM at the James White Library Gallery. For more information, contact Raewyn at 909-362-2063.

Offering for August 3, 2024

Pioneer Operating Budget

Several of my friends are educators in our Adventist school system. Because I teach on the college level, I am often intrigued by the stories that my friends who teach elementary school share with me.

Children can often say very silly though heartfelt comments. For example, one student, though they seemed to enjoy being at school, shared this thought one day, “I feel like I’ve been in school forever! When will it end?” Another child on another day asked, “Does God like to eat chocolate like I do?” Young children may often share their unfiltered thoughts with anyone willing to listen.

If you spend any amount of time with children, you may realize that they tend to be curious about God and who He is. God’s word tells us, “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it” (Proverbs 22:6, NIV).

Children’s Sabbath School is a great place for children to come and learn and explore those emerging questions about God, what He is like, and His love for all of us.

Today’s offering is for our local church budget. Sabbath School is a wonderful time of the week that I’m sure many children look forward to. Prayerfully consider giving to our local church budget today, for in doing so you will be investing in our youngest members today and into the years to come.

Something in Common Sabbath School

Crazy Like Us video 3 week series with Andy Stanley. Everybody thinks he is. Few people really are. Being generous is not natural, it's not common, and it's not intuitive. In fact, it's a little crazy. Begins Sabbath August 3.

Everyone is welcome in PMC room 141 from 10:30-11:30 Sabbath mornings.

Pioneer Memorial Church Announces New Associate Pastor

Pioneer Memorial Church is delighted to announce the selection of Jacob Gibbs as a new Associate Pastor. Pastor Jacob was introduced to Pioneer on July 27, 2024, although his official start date was July 18, 2024. Pastor Jacob will serve as Associate Pastor at Pioneer Memorial Church and an Associate Chaplain with the Center for Faith Engagement at Andrews University.

Pastor Jacob Gibbs felt a call to ministry when he accepted Jesus as his Savior in 2002. Over the next nine years, he pursued his purpose and training at Mission College of Evangelism and Andrews University—gaining experience as a Bible Worker and Literature Evangelist. Pastor Jacob graduated from Andrews University in 2011 with a Bachelor's in Art and Theology. He later returned for his Master's Degree in Pastoral Ministry.

During his undergraduate years, he met his wife, Emily Knott, and they were married in 2012. Pastor Jacob has served in the Michigan Conference for 13 years, starting with a three-church district in the central part of Michigan's Upper Peninsula and most recently as the Senior Pastor of the Cedar Lake Seventh-day Adventist Church at Great Lakes Adventist Academy. Pastor Jacob's passions in ministry include hobby-based outreach, small groups, applied arts, and personal Bible studies. Pastor Jacob and Emily have two daughters, Eva and Avianne. They look forward to starting this new chapter of their lives by serving the communities of Andrews University and the Pioneer Memorial Church.
