2018 Health Tent Thank You!

We had 4319 visitors to the Health Tent during the week of the Berrien County Youth Fair, August 13-18! Even though attendance at the Fair was down this year about 6%, we still had the same proportion of fair goers stop by the Tent. We were able to share information about healthy living in a quick, fun way thanks to 101 friendly volunteers from the Adventist churches in southwestern Michigan. We are so grateful for your witness in this important annual ministry event. (PMC Health Ministry Team)

Welcome to Babel

By the way, that's not "babble"—it's "Babel," as in the Tower of Babel. Because the accumulating headlines of late, while they may sound like so much babble and background noise, mirror the fatal confusion of that ill-fated attempt long ago to outmaneuver God.

"Now the whole earth had one language and a common speech" (Genesis 11:1). So what's new—the lingua franca of this generation is English, and the modus operandi of communication is social media—one language, one common speech.

The Rest of Our Non-Labor Day

What's not to like about Labor Day? The school year is only a few hours old, and they declare a holiday! Does it get any better than that? Actually, it does—but that's a matter for another blog.

Howard Performing Arts Series Presents— the Joyous String Ensemble

"The Joyous String Ensemble" has quick become an international sensation with major TV appearances on the "Ellen Degeneres Show", ABC's "Good Morning America", Steve Harvey's "Little Big Shots" and more. In addition, the group performed at the White House for President Obama. Mixing an eclectic repertoire, the Joyous String Ensemble performs traditional classical music to today's pop hits and mash-ups. Their music is innovatively orchestrated and arranged to give you a unique listening experience. Despite their youthful age, they perform with mature and brilliant musicianship.

Howard Performing Arts Series Presents— Charlie Albright

Charlie Albright is an American-born classical pianist, composer, and improviser. Hailed as "among the most gifted musicians of his generation" with a "dazzling natural keyboard affinity" by the Washington Post, Albright is also sought after as a speaker, masterclass instructor, teacher, and competition judge. Charlie will be playing works by Schubert, Kapustin and Chopin. He will also be doing his famous improvisation, which is what sets Charlie apart from other pianists.
