Pioneer Offices Closes  —

for the Juneteeth holiday. We will reopen on Friday June 20.

A Christmas Prayer: “We Are Still in the Sea . . . Not Sure [Who] Is Coming

Those are the last words of 30-year-old Shakar Ali Pirot, one of over thirty Middle East migrants who perished in the English Channel a few nights ago, their desperate flight to freedom ending tragically.

In this case, the electronically captured recording of the cry for help from the sinking dinghy says it all: “We are still in the sea between the UK and France. We're not sure which is coming [to rescue us]” (www.bbc.co.uk/news/resources/idt-b7bd2274-88b1-4ef9-a459-be22e180b52c).

Carols of the Season

Some of our Pioneer family shared carols of the season this past week with shoppers at Apple Valley Market here in Berrien Springs.

Tornado Relief Offering

This Sabbath, December 18, we will be collecting a special offering, in addition to our loose offering, for for the victims of the Tornadoes that recently swept through the Midwest. To give online, use AdventistGiving to find the item "Adventist Community Services (ACS) - Michigan" under the Conference/Union category.

A Poisonous Tree for Christmas

A few days ago the Wild family—Mom and Dad and their two children—living on the Western Cape of South Africa were decorating their Christmas tree, a familiar holiday ritual. With the last ornament tucked onto a lighted branch, they all stepped back (you know the drill) to admire their blinking, glittering Yuletide creation. The requisite chorus of oohs and ahhs declared a job well done!

Celebrating His Birth at His Cross

For the first time, Pioneer will commemorate both the birth of our Lord and the death of our Savior on the same Sabbath. Why haven’t we done it before? After all, at the manger and the cross is where God’s infinite sacrifice to save His earth children comes most keenly into focus. "Come and worship" indeed!

But because the pandemic still lingers in our new not-normal normal, Pioneer will once again sponsor a two-phase Lord's Supper commemoration.

Thank-you!

Thank-you to all who braved the weather on Sunday, November 14 to participate in the Village of Berrien Springs Shamrock Spruce-Up! 18 of the 24 volunteers who came out to show love on the move were part of the Pioneer team. Participants were out for around four hours, raking, blowing, and bagging leaves in yards all over Berrien Springs. It was a blessing for everyone involved!
