What Gift?

Have you ever wondered what to get someone for Christmas? Here is a story that should be a help, particularly for younger persons.

Jimmy lived about three blocks down the street from an elderly woman who lived by herself. Somehow, he got into doing odd jobs for her—like mowing her lawn. She never paid him anything, but she did tell him that come Christmas, he’d get a nice gift. At that point, Jimmy began to picture a new bicycle standing beside the Christmas tree.

Toy Collection for Christmas Care--Sabbath, December 13

On Sabbath, December 13, we will be having our annual Children’s Celebration of Christmas. This is the worship service where we bring a new unwrapped toy for a child up to age 16. Each year we partner with "Christmas Care" in providing gifts to 300+ families in our community who are not able to purchase their own. This is yet another way that Pioneer can participate in the 2nd part of our PIONEER strategic plan of Interacting and partnering with those in our community.

Flowers for Homebound Members

We need your help. We have some special church members that are homebound. We want to remind them that they are an important part of our church family. We have a poinsettia to deliver to them on Sabbath afternoon. You can pick up one of the plants on a table off to the south side of the Sanctuary after each service. They will have a card on each with the Name, Address and Phone number for each member. Thanks for helping to make the season happy for them.

Update on Pastoral Transition at Pioneer

We at Pioneer were richly blessed by the ministry of Pastor Ben Martin. Unfortunately, due to tithe shortfalls (not at Pioneer, but in other portions of the conference), Michigan Conference administration has determined that his position will not be filled at this time. Please combine your prayers and patience with mine as we work to cover Pastor Ben’s duties with existing pastoral staff members and volunteers. - Pastor Shane
