Remembering Our Veterans

Veterans' Day is coming on 11/11 and we will have a remembrance on Sabbath the 11th. We will pray in our worship services for any Veteran whose name you submit. Submissions should be sent to James North, Jr., by text, 269-876-2232, or by e mail, jamesn@andrews.edu, not later than Wednesday, 8 November 2023. We will include requests for persons whose names you ask us not to mention as silent requests, but we will add the name to our list so we do not forget them.

Andrews Academy Concerto Night 2023

Andrews Academy is delighted to present it's 13th Concerto Night on Saturday, November 11, at 8 p.m., at the Howard Performing Arts Center on the campus of Andrews University. Three outstanding young musicians will perform accompanied by the Andrews Academy Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Elsy M. Gallardo-Díaz.

Featured students this year are Luke Patterson (Vivaldi's Summer from 'The Four Seasons'), Karan Chun (Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 3 in G major), and Jion Kim (Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1 in G minor).

Upcoming Horn Lectureship Series

Horn Lectureship Series Presents: “The Austrian Expedition to Tell Lachish, 2017-2023,” by Felix Höflmayer, Ph.D.

This series of excavations have worked to expand the Middle Bronze Age palace and have discovered a possible entrance to an Iron Age IIA water system. Among the major finds were an early alphabetic inscription and a hieratic ostracon bearing a ration list with west-Semitic names, attesting to remarkable early administrative activity at the site. This lecture summarizes and discusses the results of the project in light of the findings from previous excavations.

Andrews University Wind Symphony Fall Concert: An American Tribute

The AU Wind Symphony presents its fall concert, “An American Tribute” on Saturday, October 28th at 8:00 PM at the Howard Performing Arts Center. This program will feature a number of patriotic pieces that highlight various eras of the history of the United States. Selections will include Robert Russell Bennett’s Suite of Old American Dances, Larry Daehn’s With Quiet Courage, Carolyn Bremer’s Early Light, and Peter Wilhouky’s popular rendition of Battle Hymn of the Republic.
