Pioneer Offices Closes  —

for the Juneteeth holiday. We will reopen on Friday June 20.

Delta Cannot Stop Calvary

At the beginning of the summer, we hoped that the pandemic would recede enough for us to have a full-orbed on-site celebration of the cross at Pioneer come the fall. But alas, the unwelcome Delta variant means that on Sabbath, September 18, Pioneer will sponsor a two-phase Lord's Supper commemoration.

9/11 and Now

It was a sun-bathed gorgeous Tuesday morning. I was in my study reading when colleague and friend Skip MacCarty called. “Turn on your TV!” “Why?” “Just turn on your TV” was all he would say. So I switched on a black and white 12-inch television (anybody remember those?) in the family room. NBC. As the small screen popped on, there was Tom Brokaw instructing, “Let’s reroll that video clip of the plane again.” I thought he might be referring to a small Cessna. In disbelief, I watched as a jetliner slammed into the side of the World Trade Center. An orange ball of flame.

It's Time for Fall Grow Groups!

Fall Grow Groups are here and we are so excited to have more than 50 groups available to join this semester! The session officially begins September 19, so don’t wait!

We have a variety of groups meeting every day of the week. Pioneer is continuing to offer groups both in-person and online, so we think you’ll be able to find one that works for you--whether you’re looking for Bible study, support, art, prayer, discipleship, or activity groups.

Greeters Make Cards for Homebound Ministry

Thank you to the volunteer Greeters that made some cards for our Homebound Ministry in July. This was part of one of their outreach projects.

The Last Plane Out

What if you were living somewhere in Afghanistan, racing across the dusty wilderness toward Kabul, desperate to catch the last flight out of that beleaguered city, only to arrive in time to see the aircraft's jet trail vanish into the ether? In two conversations last weekend I talked with individuals who have been apprised of the actual situation on the ground and who have assured me there still are many who for legitimate reasons hoped against hope to be on that last plane out. But alas, it was a not-to-be.

Adventist Seniors of Michiana (ASM)

Pending COVID safety concerns, ASM is holding their annual corn roast on Sunday, September 12, Noon–2:00 PM. Please note we will be meeting in "The Grove" on the Andrews University Campus, rather than at Wolf's Prairie Park. Officers will serve you wearing masks and gloves. Haystacks are on the menu as well as corn. We will be voting on several things including whether or not to continue our monthly gathering. If the vote is yes, Ryan Hayes will be our eager presenter at the November 14 meeting.

Something in Common Meeting Location

The Something in Common Sabbath School will meet this week in Room 141 (Lower Level - North Wing).

Women's Ministries Sabbath Delight Weekend

Pioneer Women's Ministries is hosting a ladies' Sabbath Delight Weekend with guest speakers Jo Ann Davidson and Yolande Robertson. We will be sharing some practical ideas on how we can celebrate the Sabbath using all five senses, especially as we open and close the Sabbath. You are invited to explore with us how to celebrate using all the senses in delighting in this wonderful gift from God, and experience the rest and healing God is promising to us.
